This Week's Issue

HAC Reporting Deadline Is January 15, 2009

The next Hearing Aid Compatible (HAC) reporting deadline for digital commercial mobile radio service (CMRS)  providers (now including carriers that provide service using AWS-1 spectrum and resellers of cellular, broadband PCS and/or AWS services) falls on January 15, 2009. The information provided in reports must be current through the end of the calendar month preceding the filing date (i.e., through December 31), and include historical data for the period since the entity filed its last report. For purposes of this report, service providers must include historical data relating to compliant and noncompliant handset models for the six-month period prior to reporting (i.e., beginning in July of 2008).  We have prepared a HAC reporting template to assist our clients in keeping track of their HAC handset offerings, and other regulatory compliance efforts.
